With 2023 now begun, I thought it would be fun to share my list of my top 10 most anticipated movies of 2023. Right now I have 52 movies on my list for 2023. These ten are the ones that I am the most excited about and am really curious about what is going to happen. Without further delay, here are my 10 most anticipated movies of 2023.
10. 65
This movie was not on my list until the trailer came out. The only thing I knew about the movie before the trailer was that it was about an Astronaut trapped on a mysterious planet with some sort of beast. However, this trailer made my excitement go up significantly. The trailer shows Adam Driver on a prehistoric Earth fighting Dinosaurs. Just on that premise alone, I was sold. Aside from that, it also has this horror/thriller feel to it that I'm really excited about.
9. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3
I have been excited about this movie for a while. It is set up as the end of the trilogy of Guardians films and I am really excited to see how things get tied up. The trailer shows a lot of funny moments as well as some quite intense scenes. I am also nervous to see if anyone gets killed off in this. Some actors have made some statements about how they are done after this film and I am really curious to see how they handle their departure.
8. Scream 6
I have been a big fan of the Scream franchise and am really looking forward to the 6th installment. The trailer doesn't give a lot away other than it's going to be Scream set in New York City. However, that premise sounds really interesting and I am totally on board. I also really liked the characters that were introduced in the last movie and am curious to see where they go with them next.
7. John Wick Chapter 4
John Wick has been one of the best action franchises of the past 10 years. I really like Keanu Reaves in this role as well as all of the grounded action in these films. This trailer got me really amped up for the newest installment. I was really curious about where they would go after the last film and this trailer just made me even more excited. It sounds like we are going to get John going to battle with the high table and I am so excited. I am also interested to see if this is where they are going to end the franchise or if there will be more after this film.
6. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
When I first heard about this film, I was very skeptical. Harrison Ford will be over 80 years old when this film comes out and I just couldn't see how a new Indiana Jones film would work. However, when this trailer came out, I was completely sold on the idea. I can somewhat see the direction that they are going and it looks like they de-aged Ford just a bit so he doesn't look extremally old in the movie. I was always going to go see this movie as Indiana Jones is one of my favorite franchises but seeing this trailer made me a little less worried about it.
5. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
This is the second MCU film on this list. This Ant-Man sequel looks to be a lot darker with much higher stakes than the last two films. What really gets me excited is that we get to see our first appearance of Kang the Conqueror. We got to see a variant of him in Loki but this is the first time we will see the next big bad of the MCU in his full glory. I also am really excited to explore the Quantum Realm in more depth. The trailer made it seem like this whole other world and civilization and I am so excited.
4. The Flash
This is the only DCEU film to show up on this list and I have been excited about it for a while. This looks to be a multiverse movie set in the DCEU which I am really excited about. I have also liked Ezra Miller's version of the Flash and am excited to see where they go with him next. Of course, the main reason I am so excited is that this film will bring the return of Michael Keaton as Batman. I am not sure how he will be brought into the story or how long he will be in it but regardless I am so excited to see how he is included.
3. Dune: Part 2
This film is a sequel to Dune which came out in 2021. There haven't been many details about this movie yet but I am still very excited. Denis Villeneuve did such a good job with Dune Part 1 that I am really excited to see what he does with Part 2. I have also read the book and know what happens and am really excited about how it will be adapted to the screen. As of writing this, there has not been a trailer released yet.
2. Oppenheimer
This is Christopher Nolan's newest film. Whenever Christopher Nolan releases a new film, it finds its way into my most anticipated of the year. This film is all about the development of the atomic bomb and I am really excited to see the direction he goes with it. Christopher Nolan is known for these big films that play with the idea of time and I am so curious to see how he handles all of that in this film. The movie also has a lot of big-name actors listed which is just another reason to be so excited.
1. Mission Impossible -Dead Reckoning Part 1
Without question Mission Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part 1. I have been so excited about this movie ever since this trailer came out. Mission Impossible is one of those rare franchises that gets better as it goes on. With Mission Impossible Fallout being so amazing, I am so excited to see how this film is going to try and top it. It looks to include a lot of new characters as well as some crazy stunts. I am also really excited about the fact that this film is a part 1 which means it's probably going to have a huge epic story. I cannot wait for this film and get goosebumps every time I see this trailer.
