After taking a month off, here is the next addition of the streaming service recommendations. This month is for Amazon Prime Video. Amazon Prime Video is probably the broadest of all the streaming services, as it doesn't have any pre-existing IP rights for its service. Its catalog is basically whatever Amazon can get the streaming rights for at the time. As usual, there will be three sections: original movies, original TV shows, and back catalogue. With all that said, here are some recommendations for Amazon Prime Video

This first section is for original movies made specifically for the Amazon Prime Video service. There are a couple that got an initial release in theaters but still became Amazon exclusives.

Red One: This is a holiday blockbuster starring Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson. It follows the two leads on a mission to rescue Santa after he has been kidnapped by a group of mercenaries. Red One is rated PG-13.

Air: This is a sports marketing drama about the origins of the Air Jordan shoe. It stars Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jason Batmen, and Viola Davis. Ben Affleck also directed it. Air is rated R.

My Spy: This is a spy comedy film starring Dave Bautista and follows an undercover spy as he befriends a little girl and surveils her family. This movie is in the vein of films like The Pacifier, Kindergarten Cop, The Spy Next Door, and The Game Plan. My Spy is rated PG-13.

The Tomorrow War: This is a Sci-Fi time travel film starring Chris Pratt. It follows a man (Chris Pratt) as he is enlisted into the army to travel to the year 2051 and fight an alien species. The Tomorrow War is rated PG-13.

Totally Killer: This is essentially Back to the Future as a slasher. It follows 17-year-old Jamie as she accidentally travels back in time 35 years to 1987 to stop the "Sweet Sixteen Killer" from beginning his rampage. Totally Killer is rated R.

The Idea of You: This is a rom-com starring Anne Hathaway. It follows a lonely 40-year-old mother who begins an unexpected romance with a 24-year-old boy band singer. The Idea of You is rated R.

Roadhouse: This is a remake of the 1989 Patrick Swayze film. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal and follows Ex-UFC fighter Dalton as he takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys nightclub. Road House is rated R.

Jackpot! This is a new film from Paul Feig and stars John Cena and Awkwafina. The movie follows Katie, a struggling actress who accidentally wins a lottery where the other players have 24 hours to kill you and take your money. Jackpot! is rated R.

7500: This is a workplace thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It tells the story of a co-pilot who is on a plane when it is taken captive by terrorists, with the entire movie taking place in the cockpit. 7500 is rated R.

This next section is all about original TV shows. These are all shows that are made exclusively for Amazon Prime Video.

The Boys: This is a superhero action show where a group of regular guys team up to fight against an oppressive Superhero team. The show also takes jabs at corporate synergy, specifically spoofing Disney and the MCU. This is one of my favorite currently releasing TV shows. The Boys is rated TV-MA.

Gen V: This is another show set in the same universe as The Boys. However, this one follows college kids with superpowers and takes place at a superhero university. Gen V is rated TV-MA.

Reacher: This is a new show based on the Jack Reacher novels. The show stars Alan Ritchson and follows Jack Reacher, a former military policeman, as he solves crimes and delivers his own brand of street justice. Jack Reacher is rated TV-MA.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: This is another action spy show based on a series of books. The show stars John Krasinski as Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst, as he is thrust into dangerous field assignments. Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is rated TV-MA.

Rings of Power: This is a Lord of the Rings prequel show set during the creation of the Rings of Power. The show takes place thousands of years before The Lord of the Rings and follows characters like Galadriel and Elrond, as well as several new characters, as they fight the forces of Sauron and prevent him from taking over Middle-earth. Rings of Power is rated TV-14.

Fallout: This is a show based on a popular apocalyptic video game of the same name. The show takes place in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, as citizens live in underground bunkers and must protect themselves from radiation, mutants, and bandits. Fallout is rated TV-MA.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith: This is a spy drama that is a remake of the Brad Pitt- Angelina Jolie film of the same name. The show follows two strangers who take jobs in a spy agency that promised a life of espionage, wealth, and travel, but to do so, they must take new identities in an arranged marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is rated TV-MA.

The Terminal List: This is a new action thriller show starring Chris Pratt. The show follows a former Navy SEAL officer as he investigates why his entire platoon was ambushed during a covert mission. The Terminal List is rated TV-MA.

Invincible: This is an adult animated superhero show based on a Skybound/Image comic. The show tells the story of a teenager whose father is the most powerful Superhero on the planet. Invincible is rated TV-MA.

House of David: This is a historical epic about the biblical character of David. The show tells the tale of David, an outcast shepherd boy, as he is anointed to become the second king of Israel. House of David is rated TV-14.

This final section is all about the back catalog offerings of Amazon Prime Video. This one is a bit weirder as Amazon doesn't have its IPs like most of the other streaming services do, so they end up having a little bit of everything, and it changes so often. So this list may not be accurate at the time of reading.

The Beekeeper: This is an action thriller starring Jason Statham. The movie follows Adam Clay, a former special operative, as he goes on a journey of vengeance against a group of internet scammers. The Beekeeper is rated R.

Abigail: This is a fun horror film from Universal. The movie follows a group of criminals hired to kidnap a ballerina, the daughter of a powerful underground figure, but soon discover that they are trapped inside with a monster. Abigail is rated R.

A Simple Favor: This is a suburban mystery thriller from Paul Feig. The movie stars Anna Kendrick as a mom blogger who befriends a mysterious woman and decides to investigate when she suddenly disappears. A Simple Favor is rated R.

Freaky: This movie is a genre blender like Totally Killer, where this one is Freaky Friday as a slasher. The movie follows a high school senior girl who switches bodies with a deranged serial killer and must find a way to switch back before the change becomes permanent. Freaky is rated R.

American Psycho: This is a dark comedy serial killer film starring Christian Bale. The movie follows wealthy NYC banking executive, Patrick Bateman, as he embraces his murderous alter ego in his personal life. American Psycho is rated R.

Speak No Evil: This is another psychological horror film. The movie stars James McAvoy and tells the story of a normal family who is invited to spend the weekend on an isolated farm, but soon learns that things may be darker than they seem. Speak No Evil is rated R.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail: This is a classic comedy film from the Monty Python team. The movie is a retelling of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, where King Arthur and his knights go on a quest to find the Holy Grail, encountering many silly obstacles along the way. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is rated PG.
