The Adam Project is a new Netflix original released this weekend starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular character Adam. The Adam project follows Adam as he journeys from 2050 back to the year 2022 where he encounters his 12-year-old self. He must then work with his 12-year-old self to stop an enemy from changing the past to take control of the future.

I had a lot of fun with this movie. There are a lot of jokes throughout as well as some surprisingly emotional moments. I also really enjoyed the premise as it is a story that is in my favorite genre. Ryan Reynold does his typical character style bringing a lot of charm and supplying the majority of the humor. The chemistry between him and the young Adam is also really good. Some of the quips they give each other were funny as well. Young Adam plays off of Reynolds well and feels like a younger Ryan Reynolds. Some other standouts of the cast are Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, and Zoe Saldana with Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana supplying some emotional moments. The story itself is also really efficient and simple. It doesn't try to bring in too many characters at once and keeps the story focused on the Adams. The story also wastes no time bringing the two Adams together with Future Adam coming into the present within the first 2 minutes of the movie. There is also no subplot within the movie which keeps all of the focus on the main conflict. It manages to be just a fun simple time travel story with Ryan Reynolds.

There aren't a lot of negatives to this movie since the movie is so straightforward. However, it is not super memorable either. While it doesn't do anything bad, it doesn't exactly add anything new or different either. It's just a simple time travel story with a big-name star as the lead. It stays right in its comfort zone, sticking with what will work but not taking any risks. Basically, this movie is exactly what you would expect it to be, nothing surprising or different but still fun.

Overall, this movie is a fun and easy movie to watch. While it doesn't do anything new to stand out, it has enough charm and humor that it makes for an enjoyable time and something I wouldn't mind seeing more of.

Grade: B+ Score: 8/10 Recommendation: If you like Ryan Reynolds and the trailer, check this out.
