The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

Last Friday, the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special was released on Disney+. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special primarily follows Drax and Mantis as they attempt to cheer up Peter by giving him a big Christmas Celebration. To make it the best Christmas ever, the duo goes to Earth to bring back Peter's idol, Kevin Bacon, as a Christmas present.

This was a fun little holiday special. I really enjoy these little special presentations that Marvel has been doing on Disney+. As was the same with the Guardians movies, this special is very funny with a lot of moments that made me laugh out loud. This special also gave Mantis and Drax some time to shine as they are the leads of this story. Because of this, we really get to see the chemistry between the two characters and how funny they can really be. Of course, having Kevin Bacon show up as a character was just a lot of fun and he seems to really enjoy his part in the special. Finally, this special has a few heartwarming moments specifically between Mantis and Peter that really add a nice sweet feel to the ending of the special.

While this is fun to watch, there really isn't much to it. With Werewolf by Night, it felt like a mini-movie with new characters and a new world to explore. Whereas with the Guardians special feels like "let's have fun with the Guardians at Christmas time". It feels more like a holiday special whereas the other specials felt like a mini-movie. Because it is going for a holiday special vibe, it does get a little sappy as one would expect out of a Christmas special. Overall, if you aren't a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy, this isn't going to be for you.

In the end, this is a fun little Holiday special that has some fun moments and a lot of heart and is just a stereotypical holiday special with the Guardians of the Galaxy.
