A couple of weeks ago, Netflix released the final four episodes of Wednesday Season 2. Wednesday follows Wednesday Addams as she returns to her boarding school, Nevermore, for a second year to uncover a new mystery and a threat to her friend Enid. I really liked the first season of the show and enjoyed watching it with Sarah, and I was hoping the second season would bring more of the same.

I was somewhat mixed about this season as a whole. There are many good elements to it. I like the overarching plot of the show where Wednesday is trying to prevent Enid's death. I also liked the addition of Agnes to the show and how she is able to play off of both Enid and Wednesday. This season also had a really fun body swap episode where you get to see Wednesday and Enid play each other. As with the first season, this season does a great job of capturing the perfect spookiness level for a show like this. It balances scary and mystery with just a little dark humor.

However, where the season falls short for me is how everything comes together. The forward momentum and central conflict in the season are a bit clunky. The show starts with a mystery of who Wednesday's stalker is, which gets resolved in a couple of episodes. Then it moves on to these ravens killing people, which gets resolved in a couple of episodes. Finally, the season concludes with a couple of B plots taking over as the main conflicts of the story. It is just a weird layout to have for a show. I also wasn't a fan of having the full Addams family being present for the entire show. The big draw of the first season was seeing Wednesday stand on her own, with her family showing up in an episode here or there. Instead, in this season, they have major supporting roles.

Overall, I think the individual episodes are better than the season as a whole. I had a good time with the show and thought a lot of the elements were well done, but the various aspects just didn't fit well together, making for a bit of an unfocused season. It is like having eight really great-looking puzzle pieces that just don't quite fit when you try to put the puzzle together.

Score: 7.5/10 Grade: B+ Recommendation: Check it out
