At the end of June, The Bear Season 3 was released on Hulu. Season 3 of The Bear follows Carmey Berazatto and his team as they attempt to run an upscale restaurant in Chicago. The Bear is one of my all-time favorite shows so of course I was very excited to see where this new season would take things.

Overall, this is another solid season of this show. Like the first two seasons, this season does a great job of taking a show about a restaurant and making it about the people and their relationships with each other. We get to see characters like Sydney and Richie who have to figure out how to work with Carmey as he grows more and more ambitious. We also get to dive deep into Carmey's side of things as we see his struggles and his coping with the aftermath of season 2. This season also gives some of the supporting characters some time to shine as we get episodes completely devoted to Tina and Natalie. Seeing these episodes really adds growth to these characters as you get to see more of how they tick. The standout of the show is the writing as it great written dialogue is what makes the show so great. The show is conversation-heavy but it doesn't get down in exposition or boring conversations. This season also does a great job of including bits of subtle humor. Pretty much any time the Falks are on screen, there are some funny moments but aside from them, there are some funny subtle moments with Ritchie and other characters. I also quite like how the show portrays this high-stress restaurant environment. We get to see the inner workings of a high-scale kitchen and some of the intense moments that can happen there. I also really like the length of the episodes. Lately, I have been getting annoyed with shows with over hour-long episodes. However, this show is a refreshing change of pace as the episodes come in at the 30-40 minute mark while still telling an effective story in each episode. Finally, I like how this season portrays the looming threat of the restaurant review throughout the season. All of the characters are worried about it and the mystery of what it is going to say is there the entire season.

I don't really have any issue with this show. This season is a lot more character-driven than the last two. I didn't have an issue with it but other people might. It also sidelined a few of the side characters which again didn't bother me but might if you like the characters that were sidelined. It isn't as good as the second season, but when that season is a perfect season for television, it is kind of difficult to live up to it.

In the end, this is another fantastic season of The Bear that continues the high-stress feel of the series while also zoning in on individual characters and what makes them tick.

Score: 9.5/10 Grade: A+ Recommendation: This is a must-see show.
