This Thursday, the season 2 finale of Loki was released on Disney+. The TV show Loki follows the titular God of Mischief after his unexpected escape in Avengers: Endgame where he gets taken in by the TVA. Loki season 2 follows the multiverse-breaking ending of the season as we see Loki attempt to rectify the damage that was done. I quite enjoyed the first season of Loki so I was very interested to see the direction the second season went.
I thought this season of Loki was much better than the first season. I felt that it had a much more streamlined storyline than season one with no episodes feeling like filler in between episodes. This is also one of the few MCU shows that I felt didn't rush their ending. Most of the MCU shows have been solid for their first five episodes but then rush through everything to end the show in the 6th. This show was much better in that regard. I also liked that we got to spend more time with our Loki and the TVA friends. They have some solid interactions and we actually get to see the TVA characters have a bit of an arc. I really enjoyed the addition of O-B. He was such a fun character and was just likable to have around. I also liked how this show gave more time to explore more of the multiverse. We had several episodes taking place in different realities to achieve some sort of mission. I also liked how this show built on Loki's character. He has come so far from the character he was in Thor and this show really showcases that growth. Finally, I thought this movie delivered a very satisfying ending. I especially liked the direction the last two episodes went and thought that the final moments were a great direction to take the Loki character.
However, a few things are holding the show back for me. The biggest issue is that the show just has a few too many random subplots. I felt that some episodes introduced a side conflict that didn't really go anywhere. I also thought that most of the more villainous characters were a bit pointless, such as Judge Renslayer as they didn't contribute to the overall story.
Overall, this was a solid TV season and a great addition to Loki's story. While there were a few issues, I felt that this was one of the best seasons of TV from the MCU.
Score: 8.5/10 Grade: A- Recommendation: Check it out.
